Project Sunshine is officially underway at Alton Towers, marking the start of a major transformation within CBeebies Land. With this comes the permanent closure of Postman Pat Parcel Post, a long-standing attraction that has been a gentle and inclusive ride for younger guests and families since the land’s original opening.
Postman Pat’s closure has already led to swift changes on site, with props removed and the power rail dismantled, making way for what will be a new junior coaster arriving in 2026.
While the development is exciting and promises something new, it’s not without some mixed feelings. Postman Pat Parcel Post was unique in CBeebies Land in that it had no height restriction, making it ideal for toddlers and very young children. The upcoming ride, however, is expected to introduce a minimum height requirement, potentially limiting access for the youngest guests.
So, what’s replacing it? Although not officially confirmed, strong rumours suggest that the new attraction will be themed to the hugely popular children’s show Bluey. The ride is expected to be a small sized roller coaster, aimed at younger audiences. Early reports hint at a simple layout, with a compact circuit, it may feature spinning ride vehicles, adding a dynamic element that could make it stand out from existing attractions in the area.
As for the manufacturer, no official announcements have been made yet. However, several names have been circulating in the enthusiast community, including a mix of well-known coaster producers. We’re hopeful that more concrete details will emerge soon.
Additionally, Get Set Go Treetop Adventure has closed temporarily as part of the same project. While the ride isn’t going away entirely, part of its current layout is being reconfigured to accommodate the footprint of the new coaster. Track pieces have already been cut, and new sections are arriving, signalling that construction is progressing quickly.
Alton Towers seems committed to refreshing and expanding CBeebies Land for a new generation, and while change always comes with trade-offs, there’s excitement in the air about what’s next.
Stay tuned for more updates as we follow the construction and uncover more details about what Project Sunshine will bring to the resort!
